ElevenLabs Pricing 2026: which plan should you choose?

ElevenLabs starts at $0, but the cheapest plan is not automatically the right one. The key decision is whether you are only testing AI audio, need commercial rights, want voice cloning, or need much more monthly usage.

Free: best for trying ElevenLabs

Free includes 10,000 credits per month. ElevenLabs currently estimates roughly 10 minutes of Text to Speech for the relevant UI model usage. It also gives access to tools such as Text to Speech, Speech to Text, Sound Effects, Voice Design, Music and Studio projects.

Important: Free content is for non-commercial use with attribution. If you want to monetise the output, look at a paid plan.

Starter: the key upgrade for commercial use

Starter costs $6/month and includes 30,000 credits. More importantly, it adds a commercial licence and Instant Voice Cloning. For someone who likes ElevenLabs after testing Free and wants to use the output commercially, this is the first plan I would examine.

Creator: for more serious voice work

Creator's standard monthly price is $22 with 121,000 credits; ElevenLabs currently advertises the first month at $11. It adds Professional Voice Cloning and additional-credit options. This is a more logical tier if voice generation is becoming a regular part of your work rather than an occasional experiment.

Pro, Scale and Business

Pro costs $99/month with 600,000 credits and adds higher-quality audio/API output options. Scale costs $299 with 1.8 million credits, three workspace seats and collaboration features. Business costs $990 with 6 million credits and ten workspace seats, plus additional professional voice-clone capacity.

For most individuals starting out, I would not jump straight to these tiers. Let actual usage tell you when you need them.

How ElevenLabs credits work

ElevenLabs uses one shared credit pool across its creative products. Different products consume that pool differently. Its current pricing FAQ gives approximate examples including Text to Speech at around one credit per character, Speech to Text at 330 credits per minute, Music at 900 credits per minute and Sound Effects at 200 credits per generation.

That means “30,000 credits” is not simply a fixed number of audio minutes across every ElevenLabs feature.

Do unused credits roll over?

On an active paid subscription, unused credits can roll over for up to two months, capped at two times your monthly quota in rolled-over credits. Together with the new month's allowance, your balance can therefore reach up to three times the monthly quota. Free-plan credits do not roll over.

Downgrading or cancelling causes unused paid credits to expire when the current cycle ends.

Is annual billing cheaper?

Yes. ElevenLabs says annual billing effectively gives two months free: you pay the equivalent of ten monthly payments for the year. Its current equivalent monthly figures are $5 Starter, $18.33 Creator, $82.50 Pro, $249.17 Scale and $825 Business.

I would still start monthly unless you already know ElevenLabs is a long-term fit. A discount is not a saving if you buy a year of software you stop using.

Which ElevenLabs plan should you choose?

Choose Free if you are testing voice quality or using the output non-commercially.

Choose Starter if you need commercial rights or Instant Voice Cloning without a large monthly commitment.

Choose Creator if you need Professional Voice Cloning or substantially more regular usage.

Choose Pro or above when your real monthly usage, audio requirements or team needs justify the price.

What I would do

I have personally tested ElevenLabs' free Text to Speech and found it very easy to use; the default voices I tried sounded natural. Because Free is enough to judge the basic product, I would not pay first. Test it, then move to Starter if commercial use is the feature that turns it into a useful tool for you.
